Espresso

The essence of coffee and the base for all the drinks. Espresso is pleasant and rick in flavour, dark in colour and crowned by hazelnut-coloured foam called crema. It’s traditionally served in a demitasse.

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Method

  1. Using a pod espresso machine, extract a single shot of espresso (30ml)

Literally “espresso with cream” in Italian, this is a shot of espresso topped with a dollop of cream, and served in a demitase.

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Whipped cream – a dollop

Method

  1. Using a pod espresso machine, extract a single shot of espresso (30ml)
  2. Top with a dollop of cream

Espresso Machiatto

A serving of espresso just marked with a touch of steamed milk. Usually topped with a little froth to distinguish it from the reguler espresso.

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Steamed milk – 15 ml

Froth – a dollop

Method

  1. Using a pod espresso machine, extract a single shot of espresso (30ml)
  2. Add the steamed milk, then mark with some froth.

A serving espresso with equal amounts of steamed milk and froth.

Traditionally served in a 6-fl oz (180 ml) cup.

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Steamed milk – 60 ml

Froth – 60 ml

Method

  1. Using a pod espresso machine, extract a single shot of espresso (30ml)
  2. Add an equal amount of steamed milk.
  3. Add the same amount of froth to fill the cup.
  4. Decorate as desired.

A shot of espresso diluted with hot water. Traditionally served in a 6-fl oz (180 ml) cup.

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Hot water – 120 ml

Method

  1. Using a pod espresso machine, extract a single shot of espresso (30ml)
  2. Add enough hot water to fill the cup three-quarters of the way
  3. Serve immediately

A serving of espresso with milk and syrup hazelnut, caramel, chocolate, etc. Frothed milk or softly whipped cream is added before serving

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Steamed milk – 1/4 cup

Froth – as needed

Syrups – 15 ml

Method

  1. Pour the syrups into a glass.
  2. Add the steamed milk, then some froth.
  3. Add the shot of espresso, dibbling it slowly against the back of a spoon to create a layer of coffee.
  4. Add some additional froth to fill the irish glass.

* Served in irish glass 220 ml

A refreshing espresso drink with cold milk and syrups (hazelnut, caramel, chocolate, etc).

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Syrups – 20 ml

Cold milk – 1/4 cup

Ice cubes – as needed

Garnish

Whipped cream

Brown sugar crystals

Method

  1. Pour the syrups into a glass.
  2. Add the steamed milk, followed by the ice cubes.
  3. Add the shot of espresso, dibbling it slowly against the back of a spoon to create a layer of coffee.
  4. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with brown sugar crystals.

* Served in irish glass 220 ml

This cocktail was inspired by a dear friend’s gift of Godiva cappuccino liqueur.

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 1 Sachet

Chocolate malt powder – as needed

Ice cubes – as needed

Cappuccino Liqueur – 15 ml

Vodka – 15 ml

Light Cream – 10 ml

Sugar syrup – 5 ml

Method

  1. Line the rim of a martini glass with chocolate malt powder.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, place some ice cubes, the espresso, cappuccino liqueur, vodka, light cream and sugar syrup, and shake it for about 10 second.
  3. Strain the drink into the prepared martini glass and serve.

The combined flavours of bananas and macadamia nuts provide a subtle but distinct taste to this iced coffee drink.

Ingredients

Espresso pod – 2 Sachet

Cold milk – as needed

Banana syrup – 15 ml

Macademia nut syrup – 5 ml

Banana – 1 sliced

Ice cubes – as needed

Method

  1. Pour the syrups into a glass.
  2. Add the milk, followed by the ice cubes.
  3. Add the espresso, slowly dribbling it into the glass againts the back of a spoon to create a layer of coffee.
  4. Garnish with chocolate-drizzled banana sliced.

Almond Roca

Almond Roca

An espresso drink made richer with chocolate and almond roca syrups. It tastes just like the famous chocolate candy.

Ingredients

Almond roca syrup – 15 ml

Chocolate syrup – 25 ml

Cold milk – 120 ml

Ice cubes – as needed

Method

  1. Pour the syrups into a glass.
  2. Add the milk, followed by the ice cubes.
  3. Add the espresso, and lightly stir the milk with the espresso. Being careful not to touch the syrup layer to keep the layered effect.
  4. Top with whipped cream and decorate with chocolate curls.
